Between the parties there are still two major issues under dispute: the first is the vacation days that the Ministry of Finance wants the teachers to give 10 days in exchange for vacation days • The second issue concerns the mechanism for dismissing teachers who do not fit the system

Hardening positions?

Officials involved in the negotiations claim that the chance of signing the agreement today (Tuesday) is remote and that there are still issues in dispute. Conversations with officials in the Ministry of Finance show that there is no progress and outwardly it is estimated that there will be a strike. Even the teachers union is not optimistic about signing today.

Between the parties there are still two major issues under dispute: the first is the vacation days that the Ministry wants the teachers to give 10 days in exchange for vacation days.

The second issue concerns the mechanism for firing teachers who do not fit the system.

The dispute with the Treasury continues.

Let's recall that the Ministry of Finance offered an adjustment of 10 vacation days between parents and students.

How will it do?

Holding classes on five days where until now there was a vacation and moving the teachers' day off to Friday (the fast of Esther, L3 B'Omer, and the three days of the forbidden holiday of Passover, Shavuot and Sukkot).

On top of that, as for the five days before Passover - for the first two days the teachers will get two choice days, for the other three days these will be transferred to the days between Kippur and Sukkot (then productivity in the economy is low anyway).

The Treasury estimates that the school year will not start.

As mentioned, Ben David objects and says: "You take a full day off and replace it with Friday, which is half a day. Even so, many secondary schools are now switching to five days of study a week as soon as the agreement is signed. We agree to replace the three days of the holiday with the three days before Sukkot, there will be no change of more than five days at most."
