Students of the Farid Al-Atrash Institute for Music and Choir “Mada” in cooperation with the Life Skills team in the Directorate of Culture of Suwayda, under the supervision of the artist Moeen Nafaa, performed a musical evening on the stage of the Palace of Culture in Sweida this evening, at the conclusion of the activities of the seventh Sultan Al-Atrash Cultural Festival.
The evening included a bouquet of musical pieces and songs, including “The First Whisper” by Farid al-Atrash, Andalusian Muwashahat “Go Back, One Thousand Nights”, songs “Ganili Shwy Shwy” and “Hijrtak” and “Rejoice, My Heart” by Umm Kulthum and solo singing of the song “Promise You” by Souad Muhammad and “Oh people love the people” by Elie Choueiri and the song “Hello and we are Nahal” from the Arab heritage.
The activities of the last day of the festival witnessed an intellectual dialogue symposium at the Palace of Culture entitled “The Great Syrian Revolution and its National Values in the Syrian Generations,” during which the head of the Office of Preparation, Culture and Sub-media, Eng. Anwar Al-Hasani, pointed out the Arab, national and human dimension of the revolution and the importance of consolidating its concepts and reading it as a stock and a historical legacy.
The Secretary of the Arab Writers Union branch in As-Suwayda, Dr. Fayez Ezz El-Din, spoke about the values of independence and their impact on the Syrian generations, pointing to the national concepts and the values of freedom and unity that the revolutionaries carried and bequeathed to the independence movement and the Arab renaissance.
At the Arab Cultural Center in the town of Al-Quraya, researcher Moein Al-Amatouri presented a lecture entitled “Representations of the Great Syrian Revolution in Popular Poetry,” during which he touched on the role of the Great Syrian Revolution in building the national character and popular literature in keeping pace with its course.
In the Arab Cultural Center in the town of Al-Kafr, writers Wejdan Abu Mahmoud, Zahar Al-Shami and Haitham Abu Saeed gave an evening of stories, the topics of which dealt with societal concerns in the current situation in different ways, while the film “March of a Homeland” directed by Nidal Dohji was shown at the Cultural Center in the city of Kufr. Shahba within the demonstration of the revolution in the eyes of the Syrian cinema.
The festival, which was organized by the Directorate of Culture in Suwayda, in appreciation of the heroism of the great Mujahid and his companions throughout the country who made with their sacrifices and heroism the glory of the Gala over three days included heritage, theatrical, artistic and musical activities, a documentary photo exhibition, poetry evenings, cultural lectures, intellectual seminars and cinematic performances.
