2022-08-31T21:45:55.095Z

INTERVIEW – The former Olympic judo champion and the former adventurer of “Koh-Lanta” have just won the final of the strategy game, this Wednesday August 31 on M6.

Appearances are deceptive.

Behind this entertainment with magical and innocent outlines, hides in reality a formidable concept which will have wrung out the emotions of each candidate.

So much so that Clémence Castel and David Douillet, who have just won the final of the "Traitors" this Wednesday August 31 on M6, were unable to contain their tears, relieved to free themselves from a secret that they had to hide during many days.

In this game hosted by Éric Antoine, fourteen celebrities have lived together within the walls of the Château de Beauvoir, in the Allier.

The production designated among them three traitors who had to hide their true identity in order not to be unmasked.

After the elimination of YouTuber Just Riadh at the end of the fifth episode, the ex-adventurer of “Koh-Lanta” and the former Olympic judo champion have developed strategies of insolent efficiency.

Thanks to their indestructible complicity, the pair notably convinced the actress Elsa Esnoult that they belonged to the loyal group.

gave them blind faith until the finale.

But, at the time of the outcome, when David Douillet and Clémence Castel were forced to reveal the deception, Elsa Esnoult fell from her chair, trying in vain to stifle her sobs.

Joint interview with two brilliant traitors, who have sworn loyalty to each other.

“I felt shame almost every moment”

David Douillet, winner in "Les Traitors" on M6.

TV MAGAZINE.

- You betrayed the trust that Elsa Esnoult placed in you.

Are you ashamed?

Clemence Castel.

-

I wasn't comfortable with her sadness… Elsa is a woman I really appreciate!

I didn't know her before the shoot, but we created real ties during the adventure.

After the final, we discussed it and she understood that I had lied to her in the name of the game. I clung to the Rêves association, for which I was fighting, which forced me to make strong strategic choices. .

This entertainment pushed me into my psychological entrenchments because I constantly wondered if I was going to assume my decisions.

Being a traitor, I considered that all shots were allowed to advance.

It was a permanent headache to hide, while managing relationships with others as well as possible.

David DOILLET.

-

I felt shame almost every moment!

And not only vis-à-vis Elsa… In this game, we experience a permanent struggle against our own conscience and honesty.

You had no scruples about eliminating your wife from the first show…

DD -

Yes, I did!

But all this is balanced with the desire and the pleasure of having fun.

It wouldn't have made sense to gamble if I had spared her, just because she's my wife.

It would have been to make fun of the game, the people, and herself.

Before filming, we agreed to act without our decisions having the slightest impact on our lives.

If she hadn't had that intelligence, we would never have agreed to take part in this show.

But I am speaking to fragile couples who would like to apply for the second season: you must abstain!

Did you keep good relations with Elsa Esnoult?

CC -

We maintain very good relations today.

Moreover, with David, we decided that our winnings would be shared with Elsa, which means that her association wins a third of the final sum (34,400 euros, Ed.).

Due to our respective roles, the outcome of the game was different but we really wanted to thank her for her trust.

“When one is a traitor, one has the impression of being a deer in the midst of hunters”.

David Douillet, winner in "Les Traitors" on M6.

However, from the first episode, Elsa Esnoult's suspicions fall on you because you blush when Delphine Wespiser mentions the possibility that you are among the traitors...

CC -

It was the first day and I said to myself that if it starts like this, I'm burnt out.

In addition, my gestures betrayed me because I made weird movements.

I tried to regain the upper hand so that each speech was convincing and the more the game progressed, the more I slipped into the skin of the investigator when I knew the names of the traitors very well.

Which player impressed you the most?

DD -

I would say Clémence because she did wonderfully well.

From the start, she is in the crosshairs of the other players.

She had the pack of dogs on her ass and she managed to get through the drops.

When you're traitors, you feel like a deer among the hunters.

We are spied on all day: we have to think about the slightest word, and the slightest blink of an eye!

CC -

David was imperial.

Already because he had the guts to be one of the players who eliminated his wife.

And afterwards, in his way of expressing himself and managing the strategy, he was brilliant.

In my opinion, he played a perfect game.

How would you describe the bond you forged during the adventure?

CC -

When we distanced ourselves from Riadh, because we rightly considered that he was not necessarily playing the game of traitors, we found ourselves in pairs.

We felt we had to trust each other.

If we wanted to go as far as possible, we didn't necessarily have any other choice.

I was right to follow him, because he really is a fundamentally upright person.

He proved to me that he had only one word.

DD -

We reason in the same way and we have the same logic, so we make decisions almost without talking to each other.

It is obvious, it is something natural.

Clémence is intelligent, lively, she understands quickly and sees everything.

For Riadh, as soon as trust is broken, it's over!

We felt you were very angry with him…

DD -

Honestly, there were only three of us against everyone!

If we can't count on each other, it's not even worth it.

I'd rather he be gone than have a doubt, a weight, an unpinned grenade that could blow up in your face at any time.

“I told my partner Marie not to worry”

Clémence Castel, winner in "Les Traitors" on M6.

Clémence, do you attribute this victory to your experience in

“Koh-Lanta”

?

CC -

Clearly, because I learned a lot on the strategic plan thanks to this adventure.

During the first season I participated in in 2005, this aspect was not so powerful.

On the other hand, in "Koh-Lanta: The legend", I had to manage a lot of situations.

And you, David, has your past in politics helped you sharpen your treacherous weapons?

DD -

No, because I was not at all in that register and that's perhaps one of the reasons why I don't do it anymore.

I never betrayed anyone, nor did I feel like I could be manipulated.

In this show, you lie and manipulate your comrades brilliantly.

Does this faculty, which you exercise with talent, frighten your respective spouses?

CC -

I admit that I quickly announced to my partner Marie that I was going to the end of the adventure.

And I told him not to worry, and that I had done so for the game. I want to be in tune with myself!

For the show, I allowed myself to deviate a little from my line of conduct, because I thought a lot about my association.

But at no time will I behave like this with those around me.

DD -

No, because my wife knows me perfectly.

Besides, when we watched the show together, she noticed at what precise moment I was lying.

She can read me like an open book.

The rooms of the other candidates were close to yours.

How did you manage to join the Council of Traitors at night, without the other players noticing?

CC -

The locks were blocked and the windows condemned so that the other candidates would not see who was walking in the castle.

As the floor creaks, employees of the production company walked for more than an hour in the corridors to cover their tracks, and prevent others from hearing which room we are starting from.

And then, music also sounded to mask all the noises.

Nocturnal walks were also prohibited during the time slot when we were likely to organize the council of traitors.

Are you still in contact with the other candidates?

CC -

We regularly message each other in a WhatsApp group we created.

Many comrades met at Bernard Werber's to play werewolf.

But I could not participate because I was babysitting my children!

DD -

It's an adventure that bonded us because emotionally it was something powerful.

For my part, I went to Bernard's and we actually replayed this role-playing game.

Who won it this time around?

DD -

I won again!
