The acute drought is causing problems in Germany.

What about the water level in the most important rivers such as the Rhine, Main or the Danube?

An overview.

Munich - With the current drought, the water levels in many European bodies of water are currently falling rapidly.

For example in Lake Garda in Italy, whose water level recently reached a negative record.

France is also currently experiencing a historic drought, so that the river, the Loire, has dried up completely.

Rhine, Main, Danube: That's the state of Germany's rivers

Germany's waters are also affected by the drought.

Some rivers, such as the Rhine, are important waterways in the country and are therefore of great importance.

As can be seen from an overview by the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV), there is currently a low water level in the Weser and Fulder over long stretches, especially in central Germany.

The low level was not only measured at one point there, but consistently in several cities.

Drought in Germany: rivers in the west and south

In the west, a low water level can also be seen at several points along the Rhine.

In the direction of Mannheim, however, the water level is recovering here and is therefore back in the normal range.

It also looks positive in the Danube in the south.

Here, the WSV recorded mostly normal water levels, only occasionally at the level of Regensburg too little water was measured.

In the Main there is currently only too little water in Würzburg and Faulbach.

Germany: Precipitation brings only short-term improvement in rivers

Above all, the precipitation of the last few days could have had a positive effect.

As

NTV

reports, the water levels on the Rhine initially rose again as a result.

However, this would not really help, because the seasonally lowest water levels should not follow until October.

The precipitation has helped a little, but is not enough or could only help temporarily before the level drops again.

The low water levels sometimes have an impact on shipping.

According to

NTV

, freighters cannot be fully loaded in Emmerich.
