A regional train from Nuremberg to Munich is stuck in Obermenzing for hours.

Deutsche Bahn explains that the train has long since arrived.

Munich – A leisurely train ride turned into a nightmare for hundreds of passengers on a regional train on Sunday afternoon (August 28).

Gabriele H. (63), a professor in Leipzig, sat in the regional express (RE1) from Nuremberg to Munich and told

tz

about her ordeal: Shortly after the Obermenzing S-Bahn stop, the train got stuck because of a defective switch – the Passengers were trapped on the train for over an hour and a half!

At around 1:20 p.m., the RE 1 left Nuremberg.

About two hours later it was supposed to stop at Munich Central Station.

But that didn't happen: "When we pulled into Munich at around 3:15 p.m., we got ready to get out.

Then I started to wonder: where are we going?” says Gabriele H..

Due to the closure of the main route, the Regional Express had to switch to an S-Bahn track.

But shortly after Obermenzing it didn't go any further.

“We were stuck: There is a broken switch in front of us, and another train behind us.” It got uncomfortable in the compartment: “It was very hot and stuffy.

I was worried that someone would collapse soon.” Terrible: The toilets were locked!

Gabriele H. informed Deutsche Bahn about her situation via Twitter.

But: "They didn't believe us and said the train had long since arrived at the main station." It was only around 4:40 p.m. that the engine driver received confirmation that he could reverse to the Obermenzing stop.

The passengers were allowed to disembark.

A railway spokeswoman assured that an attempt would be made to get to the bottom of the incident.

"There is no question: every delay is a nuisance for our passengers and for us."
