In the Acre Magistrate's Court today (Thursday) an indictment was filed against Uri Shouri, a 70-year-old resident of Karmiel, for attacking passengers with a machete.

He is charged with threats, attempted injury, possession of a knife and willful damage to a vehicle.

The prosecution requested his arrest until the end of the legal proceedings against him.

In the documentation of the event that took place on Sunday on Route 85, Khori is seen trying to open the door of a car in which a family was traveling - and even manages to insert the knife between the door and the frame.

The indictment states that after Shouri overtook the other vehicle, he signaled and honked at the other driver.

While driving, he held a long knife in his left hand and waved it at the other driver.

In response, the other driver braked and the accused did not have time to stop and hit the complainant's vehicle from behind.

The accused, or as he put it, 'cut him', took a machete-like knife 43 centimeters long and tried to injure the complainant. When he fled to his car, he rammed his car and caused mental scars to his son and his wife.

"The time has come for him and his ilk who choose the path of violence and bullying on the road and among the road users to realize that the blood of the country's citizens is not in vain and that acts of violence against others will not pass in silence," she added.

According to her, there is a real fear that he will endanger public safety in general, being a violent person.

"This is a crime committed in a fit of rage, with severe violence and even cruelty, all while holding a machete-like knife," she claimed.

On the other hand, Shouri said that he felt his life was in danger.

Defense attorney Tammy Ullman disputes the claim that there is any danger from him and she will ask for his release while the trial is ongoing, if also under restrictive conditions.
