The tank discount has expired - and this is clearly evident at the gas stations.

A liter of diesel sometimes costs almost 2.40 euros.

How do drivers react to this?

District – Whether in Ottobrunn or Oberhaching: the mood at the gas stations is miserable.

The so-called tank discount expired on Thursday night, and drivers now pay around 25 cents more for a liter of petrol.

This frustrates many drivers.

The day after the tax break expires, the gas stations are remarkably empty.

One reason: many bargain hunters filled up on Wednesday – the last day of the fuel tax cut.

This is reported by the sellers in the gas stations.

"Yesterday people took advantage of the tank discount," says the employee at a gas station in Ottobrunn.

The rush was great.

Today, on the other hand: hangover mood.

"It's leveling off again," says the saleswoman.

After all, the tank that was filled up on Wednesday will eventually be empty again.

“People are afraid that it will get even more expensive”

"People are afraid that it will get even more expensive," says an employee at the Avia petrol station shop in Oberhaching.

At least he gives the all-clear: The seller thinks that prices will initially remain at the current level.

The fact that fuel has been cheaper over the past three months is due to the tax cut on fuel, and the federal government had put together the relief package after a tough struggle.

The discount should reduce the price of petrol by a total of 35 cents per liter and diesel by 17 cents.

Concerns about rising inflation were already high three months ago – the fuel discount at least gave motorists a short breather.

With a bill for 50 liters, that makes 15 euros

Not anymore.

Prices are back at a high level: According to adac.de, diesel cost 2.37 euros at the Shell filling station in Unterschleißheim this afternoon, and petrol was 2.27 euros.

24 hours earlier it was a whopping 30 cents less for petrol.

With a bill for 50 liters, that makes a total of 15 euros.

"It's sad, but true," says driver André Hau at the Avia gas station in Oberhaching.

He filled up 46 liters today.

His bill: 106.40 euros.

It's good that the diesel is debited from the company account, says the site manager.

Nevertheless, he demands that fuel taxes be permanently reduced – there are too many of them.

Right next to it, another driver is filling up his black Audi, he comes from Freiburg.

He wasn't surprised by the fuel prices today: "It was to be expected." With these prices, however, he had to think about every trip and see if it was necessary.

"We often leave the car at the prices"

The Lebere family from Ottobrunn also thinks about their own wallets.

"We often leave the car at the prices now," says pensioner Gerhard Lebere.

However, he believes that the energy crisis will be over in two or three years.

"Oil is not scarce, but the production volumes are only determined by the large corporations."

Like Lebere, many motorists are angry about the oil companies.

The ADAC is also criticizing the increased fuel prices: "In view of the full tanks at the gas stations, which until yesterday were filled at low tax rates, this can in no way be justified to consumers," said ADAC spokeswoman Katrin van Randenborgh today.

The commodity groups are the big winners of the crisis.

And the losers?

Employees, craftsmen, trainees and seniors.

You have only one remedy against fuel prices: Leave the car - if this is possible in rural areas.

At least that's how pensioner Gerhard Lebere does it: he prefers to get on his bike anyway.
