This week we entered the month of Elul which is the "city of refuge" of the whole year, this is how the Rebbe Rabbi Yeshiahu Pinto brought in his lesson in the name of his grandfather Rabbi Yaakov Abu Hachira ztzel, owner of the "Abir Yaakov".

Rabbi Pinto explained that if a person sinned for the entire year and did bad things, he can escape into the month of Elul.

Here are the full words of Rabbi Pinto: The

month of Elul is like a city of refuge where a person accidentally kills a soul and flees to a city of refuge and when he is in a city of refuge the redeemer of blood must not harm him in this way during the month of Elul, whoever flees into the month of Elul even if he has made mistakes during the year and has done bad things, when he is found During the month of Elul and stays deep inside and does not leave the framework of the month of Elul, he keeps himself holy and pure according to the Torah in the month of Elul, it is impossible for anything bad to happen to him and he will be harmed, that's what Rabbi Yaakov Abu Hachira says.

And perhaps it is possible to clarify and say a great foundation, the Gemara tells (Baba mentions here.) about the holy rabbi who was punished with great torment, once the holy rabbi went out to the market and there was a calf standing before slaughter, the calf ran to the holy rabbi, entered inside the rabbi's clothes and asked him to save it, which he did not They will slaughter him.

The rabbi pushed him and told him to go because this is what you were created for, the calf was created for slaughter and he cannot help it.

The Gemara says that for this Rabbi was punished with great torment for thirteen years.

The Gaon of Vilna asks why Rabbi was punished, after all the calf was really created for slaughter, so why did the Holy Rabbi really need to be punished with such severe punishments?

Rather, the Gaon of Vilna explains: As soon as the calf asked for mercy and entered between Rabbi's clothes and into his forehead, as the leader of the people of Israel, Rabbi had to have mercy on this calf and say that they would not slaughter it now, maybe later or not at all, he had to show him something of mercy

The same is true for us, as soon as we have made a mistake and sinned during the year, but we come to G-d at this time and come between His feet and tell G-d to have mercy on us and forgive us, we enter the month of Elul and ask for mercy like this calf even though according to the law we deserve punishment and ask for mercy, G-d God must forgive us. We enter into the feet of the Almighty and ask for salvation, that He will be pleased and forgive us, that He will protect and protect us, the Almighty must guard and protect us.

That is why the month of Elul is the city of refuge for the whole year, when he has made a mistake during the year he can hide in the month of Elul, but If he leaves the month of Elul for one moment, the blood redeemer is allowed to harm him, it is permissible according to the law to harm a person if he goes outside the protection of the month of Elul.

Even if we have behaved in a bad way, we will know how to observe the month of Elul and not leave the framework of the month of Elul under any circumstances And how, because if we keep strong within this framework, God helps a person, has mercy and saves him even if according to the law he deserves punishment,There is a measure of mercy that takes pity on the person and saves him.
