The chairman of Russian oil and gas giant Lukoil, Ravil Maganov, has died after falling out of a hospital window in Moscow, according to Russian state media.
"The man fell out of the sixth floor window and died as a result of his injuries," a source told TASS.
Lukoil confirmed the death of its chairman in a statement posted on its website on Thursday.
Ravil Maganov "passed away after a serious illness," Lukoil said, without mentioning a fall.
"Maganov contributed immensely to the development of not only the company, but the entire Russian oil and gas sector."
Russia's second largest oil company calls for an end to the war in Ukraine
Lukoil, Russia's second largest oil and gas company, made headlines in March when it called for "an end to the armed conflict as soon as possible" in Ukraine.
"We express our sincere empathy with all the victims affected by this tragedy," the company's board of directors said in a statement to shareholders, staff and customers at the time.
"We strongly support a lasting ceasefire and a solution to the problems through serious negotiations and diplomacy."

The company produces more than 2% of the world's crude oil and employs more than 100,000 people.
RIA Novosti on Thursday quoted a law enforcement source as saying that Maganov "most likely committed suicide."
"The investigating authorities are working on the spot to establish the causes of the incident," the source told RIA.
At least five prominent Russian businessmen have died by suicide since the end of January, according to previous CNN reports.
