In a plane crash in Namibia: Family from Grünwald dies - "Everyone is in shock"

Tragic accident in Namibia: A family of four from Grünwald died in a plane crash.
There is no precise information on the cause of the accident.
Windhoek/Grünwald – Impalila in the Zambezi in the border area between Namibia, Botswana and Zambia can only be reached by plane or boat.
A family from the south of Munich spent three days in an exclusive lodge by the water on the 18 square kilometer river island at the end of their two-week vacation in Africa.
Now it should go back to Windhoek with a small plane, from the Namibian capital there are direct connections to Germany.

But the four did not arrive there.
At around 12 noon on Tuesday, August 30, a six-seater Cessna 210 took off for the approximately two-hour flight.
On board: The R. family with father Thomas (59), mother Cornelia (57) and the two daughters Alicia (19) and Paulina (17).
Pilot Nicole M. from South Africa was at the wheel.
She received her license for this type of flight about a year ago.
The plane had been in the air for about a minute when residents of the village of Muwana on Impalila heard a loud noise, a bang, and saw the Cessna crash into the Zambezi near shore.

Apparently the tail broke off.
Despite the danger posed by crocodiles and hippopotamuses in the water, local helpers rushed to the scene of the accident.
But the plane sank in the water.
Only the bodies could be recovered later.
There is no information yet on the cause of the crash.
The Namibian Aviation Authority has started its investigation.
In Grünwald, where the family lived, there is great dismay.

Father Thomas was a management consultant, mother Cornelia belonged to the church council of the Thomas parish.
The daughters were very musical - Alicia played the piano, Paulina the flute.
Thomas R.'s business partners could only say one sentence: "We are all in shock!" The cause of the accident remained unclear yesterday.
Investigations have been initiated.
