Adriana Lastra, former deputy general secretary of the PSOE, has branded Alberto Núñez Feijóo this Friday as a "macho, twisted and bad person" after the leader of the PP affirmed that the pregnancy of the

former number two

of the main government party was an excuse to dismiss her from her organic functions.

“The same government that presumes to be the most feminist always resorts to contempt, insult and defamation of a free woman, who freely stands for election and is elected president of the Community of Madrid.

Although we really should not be surprised because these alleged feminists alleged a pregnancy to dismiss one of the highest officials of the PSOE", Feijóo said at a PP act in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) attended by the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the general secretary of the popular party, Cuca Gamarra.

“You have to be sexist, twisted and a bad person to use the personal decision of a woman and try to harm the President [of the Government].

My decision is mine, no one else's, respect it, sexist," Lastra responded on social networks.

The leadership of the PP, when asked by this newspaper, did not want to enter into the declarations of the 43-year-old Asturian politician, with a risky pregnancy and who on July 18 announced her resignation as deputy general secretary alleging her personal situation, that prevented him from attending the debate on the state of the nation in Congress.

“In recent months there have been important changes in my personal life that require calm and rest and that, in the last two weeks, have forced me to take a leave of absence that is going to last for some time.

For all this, and given the difficulty of combining the demands of rest and care, essential in my current situation, with the intensity required by the PSOE leadership, I have submitted my resignation," Lastra said in a statement.

The departure of Lastra, which is also linked to the differences in the preceding months with the Secretary of Organization, Santos Cerdán, precipitated the changes in the leadership of the PSOE.

Sánchez, who had in mind to remodel the structure in Ferraz at the end of August or the beginning of September, coinciding with the start of a political course with regional and municipal elections in May and general elections at the end of 2023, decided to execute them that same week by improving coordination and communication between the Executive and the party.

The objective: to grease the electoral machinery in the face of an uncertain autumn due to the rise in prices derived from the war in Ukraine.

María Jesús Montero was appointed the new deputy secretary general and therefore

number two

of the PSOE, a responsibility that she will combine with her position as Minister of Finance.

The spokespersons of the PSOE were also renewed: the exlehendakari Patxi López replaced Héctor Gómez as the new spokesperson in Congress and the Minister of Education, Pilar Alegría, Felipe Sicilia as spokesperson for the executive.

Within this profound remodeling, a year and a half after Sánchez is at stake for re-election, the general secretary of the PSOE has opted for the creation, in parallel with the federal executive, of a hard core composed, in addition to Cerdán and the three new positions mentioned , by Óscar López, chief of staff of the president in La Moncloa;

the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños;

the Government spokesperson and Minister for Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodríguez;

the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta;

and the spokeswoman in the Senate, Eva Granados.
