US company UPPAbaby is recalling more than 14,000 strollers after a child's finger got caught between the brakes of one of its strollers and had to be partially amputated.
"The rear brakes of the stroller
have holes that can cause amputation or laceration,
if the fingertip of a child walking next to the car gets caught in these holes while the car is moving," the FDA's Product Safety Commission said Thursday. United States consumer.
Only one incident of this nature is known so far.
The voluntary recall affects all RIDGE all-terrain strollers manufactured by the UPPAbaby company, in white, charcoal and blue colors.

Car serial numbers start with 1401RDGUS and this designation is located on the right hand side of the product.
Model number 1401-RDG-US is printed on the left side.
The cars sold between October 2021 and last month for about $600 at stores including BuyBuyBaby, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Pottery Barn Kids and Amazon.com.

The commission said customers should stop using the cars immediately and contact UPPAbaby to get free replacement brakes.
UPPAbaby is considered a top-notch baby stroller brand.
Some of their products cost more than $1,000.

UPPAbaby states on its website that the company's "top priority" is "children's safety."
“We conduct extensive testing to ensure that UPPAbaby products meet all global industry standards and regulations.
Despite passing all tests and meeting all standards, UPPAbaby received a report on the RIDGE all-terrain stroller,” the release states.
"Based on a report from consumers, we believe the injury is likely due to (product) misuse."
