A 16-year-old was arrested today (Saturday) on suspicion of running over a 4-year-old girl while riding an electric bicycle at the Tel Aviv port on Friday.
According to the suspicion, the boy rode at high speed and hit the girl, who was there with her father.
The boy hit the girl hard, threw her and fled the scene.
She was referred to the Ichilov Hospital suffering from a broken jaw.
Due to the injury, she was put into surgery.
The police officers of the traffic unit of the Yarkon area started an investigation in order to locate the offending boy.
On Saturday afternoon, he was located near his home in Tel Aviv and arrested.
The girl's father said: "We were buying a drink at a kiosk and suddenly three boys on electric bikes rode in front of us at a speed of 50 km/h.
One of them hit my daughter in the face.
She flew through the air and he fell too.
He got up and they ran away.
It's morally low to get up and run away after they saw she was injured."
The father added: "She came out miraculously. A centimeter here or there and she could have walked. She underwent surgery but she will be fine. I really hope they put an end to this phenomenon."
A passerby who was an eyewitness to the incident wrote on Facebook: "The boy hit the girl and threw her into the air. Friday afternoon, we are walking around the harbor with the children on bicycles. We stop to buy a popsicle when a group of boys arrive quickly on electric bicycles and throw to each other: 'Brother, faster.' Three seconds and one of the boys hits the girl. It's a shocking sight, the girl is covered in blood and one idiot boy picks up his bike and continues on his way."
