Debating a budget could/should be a rich and constructive part of parliamentary life.
An exchange between actors, all elected by the citizens to represent them.
And if we understand that this is fundamentally not pleasing for those who are allergic to the proper keeping of public accounts, it is indeed a serious matter: anticipating issues, making choices, making arbitrations … Establishing a budget is essential, it cannot be solely guided by an ideology but must respond to the imperatives of the moment, of the country and, basically, ensure republican cohesion.
