(CNN Spanish) --

From Saturday, August 13, you can consult on the website of the Electoral Service of Chile (Servel) your location and voting table for the constitutional plebiscite in September.

That day, the electoral service released the information on the polling places and also on the members designated for the day, in which Chile will define whether to approve or reject the new Constitution prepared after the social outbreak of 2019.

You will be able to check if you are eligible to vote and where you are, by going to the page consulta.servel.cl and entering your RUN identification number.

To vote, whether in Chilean territory or from abroad, you can only present one of two documents: identity card or passport.

They may be expired as of October 1, 2019, according to the electoral authority.

Once at the table, the members will ask you for the document and will give you three things: the electoral card, the stamp and a blue paste pencil (if you bring your pencil you can use it too).

They will write down the serial number of the certificate stub on the table padrón, they will ask you to sign it and then you can go to the secret chamber.

After voting and closing the vote with the adhesive seal, you must deliver it to the president of the table.

He will cut the stub of the electoral card before returning it to you so that you can deposit the vote and then they will return your document to you.

The work of the Constitutional Convention, to the polls

The Magna Carta proposal was prepared by the Constitutional Convention arising from the October 2020 plebiscite in which 79% of the population voted in favor of a constitutional reform.

The plebiscite, in turn, was the result of the wave of protests against the high cost of living and inequality, among other claims, that shook the South American country and the region between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020.

The Constitutional Convention worked for 12 months on the project, which has 388 articles organized in 11 chapters and which would replace the Magna Carta adopted during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.

In this way, it overcame one of the challenges that some experts warned about when the process began: that it could arrive on time and agree on a text.

According to the official website of the Constitutional Convention, the draft is based on 10 pillars that bring together "fundamental elements and most relevant norms."

Here you can read what its main definitions are and how it differs from the current Constitution.
