Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stressed that it is impossible to meet his country's needs for blue fuel without shipments of natural gas from Russia.
"We buy gas from Russia not because we want to send some signals of political support, but because this is the reality of the region," Szyartou was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti news agency.
"As long as you cannot carry gas in a backpack or by train, you must use the pipeline," Sjarto added, addressing his words to European countries.
"You cannot exclude Russia, and if you do not look at Russian sources, you will not be able to meet your needs... If you need 8.5 billion cubic meters of imported gas annually, as we need, you cannot provide it without Russian gas," Seyartou added.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto confirmed yesterday that the armed conflict in Ukraine led to a serious weakening of the European Union, indicating that the bloc's leaders were unable to protect people in Europe from paying the war bills.
