Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council, Vladimir Jabarov, called for moving the headquarters of the United Nations from New York to a neutral country, in response to the United States' failure to issue visas to the Russian delegation to participate in the organization's General Assembly.
"The time has come to address the issue of moving the United Nations headquarters from the United States to another country, and the most important thing is for it to be a neutral country, such as Austria," RIA Novosti news agency quoted Jabarov as saying on his Telegram channel.
"We are waiting for the international community's reaction not to allow a founding country of the United Nations and a permanent member of the Security Council not to participate personally in the work of the United Nations General Assembly," Jabarov added.
The annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, which is traditionally attended by heads of state and ministers, begins on September 20.
