self-radicalized individuals

”, and therefore very difficult to spot. .

This often concerns individuals radicalized in a few weeks, suffering from psychiatric disorders and who have fallen into a rigorous Islam.

External threat
On the other hand, Gérald Darmanin also alerted to a very real external threat.

We have more and more reports
" of external risk, he said.

We consider that there are concordant facts which lead to the belief that this threat can return to French territory as we have known for the Bataclan
”, he declared in particular.
With 15 attacks or projects in 2021 compared to 57 in 2020 and 55 in 2019 in Europe, terrorist attacks of all ideologies are down overall.
On the other hand, the threat remains very present, especially on the side of Islamism, as indicated in August the report by Europol, the European criminal police agency.
