First report:
Grozny - In the midst of the escalating Ukraine conflict, Putin's confidante and Chechen ruler Ramzan Kadyrov is now attracting attention.
In a video he published via Telegram and which is circulating on social media, the Chechen announces a "long and indefinite" vacation: "I realized that I've been in my position for a long time," Kadyrov said, according to radio FreeEurope.
In his speech, translated by the Nexta media network, Kadyrov said: “Among us Caucasians, Chechens, there is a saying.
Regardless of how respected, long-awaited a guest is, leaving on time is even more enjoyable.
I think my time has come too.
Before they throw me out.”
Ukraine War: Chechen ruler wages war over social media
Since the beginning of the Ukraine war, Kadyorv has supported the Russian army and Vladimir Putin with his units.
The Chechen and his soldiers are considered particularly cruel.
Kadyrov himself is called, among other things, the "bloodhound of Putin".
Videos of the Chechen ruler and his soldiers keep circulating on internet platforms such as Twitter, Telegram and TikTok.
The videos show alleged combat missions or Kadyrov utters threats against Ukrainians or enemies of Russia.
Ukraine war: expert is skeptical about Kadyrov's announcement
According to Radio Free Europe, Kadyrov has made similar comments in the past and has not acted on them.
For this reason, one cannot be sure what the announcement by the Putin loyalist is all about.
The Caucasus expert from the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies in Estonia, Ivan Klyszcz, said: “I am sceptical.
He has said such things in the past.
He usually says something like that when he wants something from Putin, at least a public declaration of support.” However, if Kadyrov was telling the truth, another expert told Radio Free Europa, nobody would have expected this step.
