Her marriage to Prince Charles and her entry into royalty catapulted Princess Diana into the limelight.

In front of the cameras she showed herself with a smile on her lips, behind the palace walls another side came to light.

The “private Diana” could only get to know her family.

London – Princess Diana (36, † 1997) had to learn quickly what it means to be the focus of world public opinion.

On February 24, 1981, she was surrounded by flashbulbs when she officially met the curious journalists alongside Prince Charles (73) for the first time.

Even after the announcement of her engagement to the British Crown Prince, the kindergarten teacher was followed at every turn by the press - a fate that Diana dealt with in her own unique way.

Was the "real Diana" hiding from the cameras?

A life of service to the Crown, such as Princess Diana led for many years, comes with its own challenges.

One of the biggest hurdles is the distinction between private and public life.

The royals, whether Lady Di or her son Prince William (40), complete representative duties as representatives of the royal family, but they can do this role away from the red carpet.

The then crown princess is said to have mastered these two roles (royal / private person) perfectly.

“I'm quite sure there were two Dianas.

One that I knew, that the press knew, and a private Diana.

She could distinguish that very well,"

Royal expert Norbert Loh (69) made clear in an interview with "t-online".

Princess Diana's tragic accidental death: The Queen of Hearts will not be forgotten

Princess Diana died suddenly at the age of 36.

On the night of August 31, 1997, her black Mercedes crashed into a pillar on the Pont de l'Alma bridge in Paris at a speed of around 100 km/h.

Diana is taken to the Pitié Salpêtrière hospital, where she succumbs to her injuries at 4am.

"Depending on it more than ever": Diana's children cannot do without the press either

Even decades after the tragic accidental death of the Queen of Hearts - August 31 marked the 25th anniversary of Diana's death - the right way to deal with the press still plays a major role in the palace.

Above all, their youngest son Prince Harry (37) and his wife Meghan Markle (41), according to Loh, cannot ignore the journalists: “They [Harry and Meghan] have not detached themselves from the press, quite the opposite.

They depend on it now more than ever.”

The ducal couple Sussex regularly makes the headlines, shortly before Diana's death anniversary her daughter-in-law caused a sensation again.

Ironically, Meghan Markle presented herself in the Diana look on the cover of "The Cut" magazine.
