Soon there could be no more garden dormouse in Lower Saxony.
According to BUND, the little dormice is threatened with extinction.
Hanover – It used to be widespread in many regions in Lower Saxony, but it could soon have disappeared entirely from low mountain ranges such as the Harz Mountains: The Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz (BUND) has warned of the extinction of the garden dormouse in the German low mountain ranges.

The small nocturnal dormice, which hibernates for a long time, lives in forests, vineyards and gardens.
According to an investigation, the forest dieback could be a reason for the decline in the species, as the environmental protection association announced.

In the wildlife sanctuary in Bad Wildungen, garden dormouse were nursed back to health again and again.
