Four years ago, 13-year-old Paula Fischer from Hohenpolding decided to let her hair grow for a real hair wig for children with cancer.

Because she can understand their suffering:

Hohenpolding - At the age of five she was in the children's oncology department at the University Hospital in Regensburg with her own medical history.

There she met children who had leukemia and lost their hair as a result of the therapy.

Through the publications in the journal of the Association for the Promotion of Children with Cancer and Physical Disabilities in East Bavaria (VKKK), Paula became aware of the possibility of supporting her by donating her own hair.

Since then she has also wanted to donate her hair.

In this way she can help the association and support the sick children - and in a particularly nice way say thank you for the support during their most difficult time.

Now the time had come: the braid, which was 35 centimeters long, was cut off and handed over to the club.

He passes the braid on to the organization "haare-spender.de".

Human hair wigs are made there.

The VKKK receives a donation from the organization for this.

A nice way of helping, which is welcome to be imitated, as Paula and her family affirm.

"It takes helpers to make the great work of this association possible, and you only realize how important this association is when you are affected yourself," says the student, who looks very good with the short hairstyle.

The VKKK runs a house at the clinic in Regensburg where the parents of seriously ill children can stay overnight.

In addition, the association offers psychosocial care beyond the hospital stay and fulfills heart's desires.
