France is facing an energy crisis unprecedented since the oil shocks of the 1970s following Vladimir Putin's decision to suspend Russian gas deliveries to Europe, recorded by the closure of Nord Stream 1 at the end of August.
But the war in Ukraine also plays the role of revealing a broader and more lasting crisis, which affects an unsustainable economic model with regard to climate change and dependence on authoritarian empires, whether be it Russian energy or essential goods imported from China.
A model whose vulnerability the Covid epidemic had already highlighted.
It is vital to put in place a comprehensive response to the energy crisis by learning from the mistakes made in the face of the pandemic.
However, for the time being, France is doing the opposite.
