Israel Railways reports today (Sunday) that it has succeeded in completing the electrification of 500 km of track, which is about half of the entire electrification project. In light of this, Israel Railways is inaugurating an additional electric line between Netanya and Rehovot that will significantly improve the service in the central region and all over the country.

The new line will start on the evening of Saturday 9/17/22 and will move between Netanya, Beit Yehoshua, Herzliya, Tel Aviv, Kfar Chabad, Lod and Rehovot stations.

In addition to this, the train is extending the hours and days of operation in the southern part of the coastline from Netanya and south as well as at the Lod and Rehovot stations.

The hours of operation will be extended at the Ramla, Mezkeret Batia, Kiryat Malachi, Kiryat Gat, Lehavim and Rahat stations in the middle of the week until the hour (approximately).

Also, trains will be operated on Fridays until 14:00 (approximately) and on Mochash. Beer Sheva stations will be closed to service from Mochash due to the electrification works starting in the area and shuttles will be operated between Lahavim-Rahat station and Be'er Sheva stations.

In addition, as of Tuesday, September 27, 2022, the Rashilan-Lod line will return to operation on all days of the week and operating hours.

From today: trains also at night

The train will also for the first time operate a night train service on most days of the week between Tel Aviv, Israel and Jerusalem.

The service will be from Tuesday to Wednesday (inclusive) with a frequency of one train every hour, in each direction. On Thursdays, the night trains will be operated between the Tel Aviv Savidor Central and Netavg stations only. to perform while trains are in motion.

A slowdown in the southern lines

Finally, the railway notes that with the start of electrification works on the Ashkelon line through the Sderot, Netivot and Ofakim stations, the frequency of trains at these stations will drop to one train every hour throughout all hours and days of operation.

Also, the hours of operation at these stations will be shortened to 9:30 PM (approximately) on mid-week days, and they will also be closed for service every Friday and Saturday night, until the electrification work there is completed.

At these stations, an alternative system of shuttles will be operated and public transportation will be increased.

At Dimona station, six trains will be operated on Fridays instead of the four currently operating, and starting this evening this station will be closed for service due to the electrification works being carried out in the area of ​​the Beer Sheva North University station. There will also be certain changes in the train departure times from many stations and passengers are advised to keep up to date with the complete and updated schedule on the website, the app , or the telephone service center at *5770.
