Heavy storm over Munich: Superbloom warns visitors

At the same time, the Superbloom festival is taking place in the Olympic Park – the organizers are now warning of the storm on Instagram, among other things: "We are expecting heavy rain and some lightning in the next few hours," says the current story of the official Superbloom account.

"Please stand under and avoid metal objects," the organizers said.

There are also thunderstorms north and south of Munich, but the most severe storms will now be over the state capital - this is also shown by the current weather maps from the German Weather Service.

First report from September 3rd

: Munich – The sunny Saturday afternoon could soon come to an end, especially in the southern half of Bavaria.

Coming from Baden-Württemberg, storm clouds are gathering.

DWD warns of severe thunderstorms and heavy rain

Actually, there is hardly anything to be seen on the warning weather map of the DWD today.

Only in the south - on the state border between Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria - does it glow orange and red.

A storm front is heading towards the Free State.

The DWD warning, which applies until 4:30 p.m., says: “Thunderstorms are brewing locally from the southwest.

There are gusts of wind with speeds of up to 85 km/h (24m/s, 47kn, Bft 9) as well as heavy rain with precipitation amounts of up to 25 l/m² in a short time and small-grain hail.”

North of Ulm, the weather service even issues a storm warning of severe thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail.

It is not yet clear whether this particularly charged storm cloud will also push its way into the Free State.

It would be particularly annoying for Munich today.

Because that's where the Superbloom Festival is taking place for the first time.

Music greats such as Calvin Harris play on various stages on the premises.
