In the video: Haim Levinson goes against the bicycle and scooter trend (Radio 103)
The four-year-old girl who was run over by an electric scooter at the Tel Aviv port this weekend continues to recover in the hospital, after undergoing surgery on her jaw.
Yulia Borovich Wolf was run over on Saturday by a 16-year-old boy, who fled the scene and was later arrested by the police.
"Why on earth do we need bicycles and scooters on the Tel Baruch promenade in Tel Aviv?" said Haim Levinson on the "Levinson and Segal" show on 103.
"Why should bicycles ride on the promenade on the waterfront? All the money we pay to the Tel Aviv municipality, get inspectors and start kicking out children without helmets. The Tel Aviv port is an area where bicycles are not allowed. Where are Ron Huldai's inspectors? We are fed up, take these tools And throw them into the sea. If there's a scooter blocking my path, I put it in the trash."

The Tel Aviv Municipality said that they are aware of "the phenomenon of wild riding with electric vehicles and are trying to eradicate it with the tools at our disposal, including enforcement against cyclists and scooters, clearing the public space, arranging the sidewalks and paving bicycle lanes separated from the sidewalk in order to maintain the safety of pedestrians."

According to the municipality, since the beginning of the year, about a thousand vehicles have been confiscated from serious offenses, and about 30 thousand reports have been submitted about "bicycle law" offenses - prohibited riding of bicycles and scooters on a sidewalk that is not a designated path, riding motorcycles on sidewalks, and more.
Last year, 40,484 reports were submitted.
"We hope that the Ministry of Transportation will approve our request to install a license plate for two-wheelers and thus we can also enforce using technological tools."
The municipality emphasized that "we will never be able to enforce in every corner of the city, but we will continue to make efforts to create a greater deterrent against lawbreakers. We wish the injured girl a speedy recovery and will assist the police as much as we can in bringing the offending cyclist to justice."
