Damascus-SANA

The Syrian Investment Authority granted an investment license for a project to make starch from fresh potatoes in Hama governorate, at an estimated cost of 1.5 billion Syrian pounds, and with a production capacity of 2160 tons annually. The project is expected to provide 29 job opportunities.

The director of the authority, Madin Diab, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the project is important in its dependence on local resources and contributes to increasing the areas of agricultural land that produce potatoes in the governorate and reducing the import bill, since the project is part of the program to replace imports substitutes launched by the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade.

It is worth noting that the project establishment period is 36 months starting from the date of granting the investment license.

The number of investment licenses granted reached 45, according to Investment Law No. 18 of 2021, and it is expected that 4,019 jobs will be created.
