The Brazilian National Agency for Space Research has warned that the fires raging in the Amazon rainforest four days ago will be the most dangerous in decades.
And after the Amazon forest witnessed the worst fires since August last year, where 16,742 fires were recorded, the fires are still raging now in these forests, and 12 thousand fires were recorded during the past four days, or 70 percent of the Last year’s fires were recorded in such a short period of time, which is worrying.”
The authority added: "It is feared that if the fire continues at a rate of 300 fires per day, the current month of September will be the worst in history."
Experts consider that the fires in the Amazon rainforest, a major buffer zone against climate change, are being deliberately lit for later use of the land for agriculture and livestock.
