Customs seizures of cocaine have risen sharply since the start of the year, up 94% over the first seven months compared to the previous year, Public Accounts Minister Gabriel Attal announced on Monday.
Customs services have seized 15.42 tonnes of cocaine since the start of the year on national territory and on the high seas, a level close to the 18.62 tonnes intercepted for the whole of 2021.

At Paris airports, customs services seized 1.1 tonnes of cocaine in seven months, according to figures as of July 31, compared to 2 tonnes for the whole of 2021. Regarding cannabis, 41.25 tonnes were seized as of July 31, including 1.1 tonnes at Paris airports.
In 2021, customs services had intercepted 74.86 tonnes of cannabis.
In total, 73 tons of narcotics were seized as of July 31 at the national level, against 65 tons in 2021, an increase of 12%.
