Peter is not the patron saint of fishermen for nothing.

He made sure the weather was good at the two-day fishing festival organized by the Dorfen-Altenerding sport fishing club on the village square in Maria Thalheim.

Only on Saturday evening there was a short rain shower.

"We put up two extra tents for this purpose, which served as a pleasant source of shade on Sunday in the best summer weather," summarized club chairman Franz Flieger.

Maria Thalheim – For more than 20 years, the fishermen have been attracting a rush of visitors with family-friendly prices and the high quality of their specialties.

Regular guest for many years is the former district chairman of the fishing associations, Helmut Trinkberger from Erding, who was there with his wife Marianne.

"The fish taste excellent, and I've known Franz Flieger for a long time," says Trinkberger.

Flieger praised his fishermen for their team spirit, and he especially thanked the youth fishermen.

“For four days with set-up and dismantling, around 50 of our members put in a top performance for the fisherman's festival.

Added to this are the working hours of our women, who support the festival primarily by baking cakes,” says Flieger.

There was already a lot going on on Saturday.

The Taufkirchen brewery once again supplied the beer, banquet tables and parasols.

"On both days, our fish grill specialists worked to the limit to keep the waiting times of the hungry visitors as short as possible," said Flieger.

Joachim and Liselotte Homann from Fraunberg came by bike.

"This date is a fixed date in our calendar every year," say the two fish friends.

On offer were fish on plugs – trout and mackerel, which were also freshly smoked from the smokehouse.

There was also fish soup, calamari, fish fillets, fish nuggets and fish rolls.

And the said cake sold like hot cakes.
