The Colombian National Police paid tribute to the seven officers killed in an ambush in the department of Huila.
In front of a sign that read "May the sacrifice of thousands of Colombian police officers not be unknown to future generations," dozens of agents gathered at the General Directorate of Police in Bogotá, and in other parts of the country, to save a minute of silence for those killed on Friday.
This year more than 30 policemen have been assassinated throughout the country.
The authorities have indicated a pistol plan behind these crimes, which target young police officers, patrolmen and women.
This Friday has been the worst attack against the institution under the new government, which began its term on August 7, with the difficult challenge of curbing violence in Colombia.
