"Non-Jewish workers should be allowed to perform cleaning and maintenance work on the production lines in the dairies on Shabbat and the holiday to prevent shortages":
Minister of Agriculture, Oded Forer, addressed this morning (Tuesday) in a letter to the First Rabbi of Israel, the Chief Rabbi of Israel and the President of the Chief Rabbinate Council, Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef and the Rabbi The Chief of Israel and President of the Rabbinical Court, Rabbi David Lau, in a request to allow non-Jewish workers to perform cleaning and maintenance work on the production lines in dairies on Shabbat and the holiday during a period when milk consumption is expected to increase.
In the letter of inquiry, Minister Porer made it clear that in the coming month of Tishrei, due to the holidays and their proximity to the weekends, the number of working days will be significantly lower than usual.

It was emphasized that in order to prevent difficulties in the regular supply of milk to consumers, the Ministry of Agriculture works with the dairies to increase production and even work three shifts a day in order to close the gaps.
Also, it is not about the actual production of milk on Shabbat, but only about technical support work at the dairy, before or after production, and for a limited period of time, in order to provide a regular response without fear of a milk shortage to the residents of Israel.
