The 80th Erding Autumn Festival ended on Sunday - with a laser show.

The city, innkeepers and showmen are satisfied despite the decline in visitors.

Erding – Best Wiesn weather, significantly fewer visitors, but still satisfied hosts: This is how you can summarize the 80th Erdinger Herbstfest, which ended on Sunday evening.

Many were happy to be able to celebrate again after the forced Corona break.

They did, but far more peacefully than in previous years.

"It was a very, very nice Wiesn," said Lord Mayor Max Gotz, who was there every day for work.

laser show

The anniversary autumn festival ended on Sunday with a premiere.

For the first time, a laser show was offered after dark.

Instead of the traditional fireworks.

Many liked the laser show.

Some criticized that you could not see them well from the autumn fairground.

The city had pointed this out in advance and invited the citizens to come to the parking lot.

Several hundred spectators followed.

They had a clear view of the colorful rays of light that streaked through the night sky above their heads to the rhythm of brilliant music.

Artificially generated fog also made them visible.

An impressive experience.

The light spectacle was astounding and visually took you into a fantastic world.

Structures were constantly being formed from two beamers, often combined with bright flashes of light.

In contrast to the high-altitude fireworks with their loud cannons, which can be seen from afar, only those festivalgoers who were in the parking lot were able to enjoy the full show.

It was a successful event, but it did not have the effect of a large fireworks display.

But it was more environmentally friendly.

Because the traditional firing of pyrotechnics, like New Year's Eve rockets, has been criticized for its fine dust pollution.

There was friendly applause at the end of the show.

Mayor Gotz did not miss the spectacle, which the city and the showmen had jointly financed.

He greeted the expectant spectators over the loudspeaker system and spoke of a successful autumn festival.

When he praised the employees of the city administration, there was a lot of applause.

"We had a few quick cancellations from showmen just before the fall festival - because of staffing problems," Gotz explained on Monday.

Despite the short-term nature, the administration found a replacement.

It was already obvious on the first weekend of the festival: there were significantly fewer visitors than before Corona.

Even if the impression was put into perspective over the course of the week, it also had advantages: "You got a place in the tent even without a reservation," said Gotz.

He was also pleased "that it was much quieter in the city center after the bar was closed".

In recent years there has been an unfortunate development of aggressive and alcohol-driven gaffes.

"That was apparently not the case this year," said the mayor.

landlords

Patrick Schmidt, new landlord in the Weißbräuzelt, celebrated a good premiere.

He has followed in "big footsteps" as the successor to Uwe and Mario Pianka.

But you found your way in quite well, he said.

"I'm very satisfied for the first time," said Schmidt - even though beer sales were down.

"We had four days when we were able to keep up with 2019, but during the week it was less." What Schmidt found in comparison to the Landshuter Dult, where he also runs a marquee: "In Erding, people eat a lot more." Weißbräuzelt were above all the duck and the snacks went well.

"The kitchen was busy."

The Römersperger-Richter family has been running the foundation tent for 48 years.

"We were really looking forward to the autumn festival," said Klaus Richter after "two and a half years of being banned from working as innkeepers".

The season has been very good so far, "even if it's a lot of work in the run-up", especially recruiting.

Richter has fixed teams - from Tyrol, Hungary and, for several years now, from Slovakia.

"They all work at the Oktoberfest too," he explains.

He employed around 70 waitresses in the foundation tent.

Even if the first half of the festival week was restrained: "Mia san zfriedn," said Richter.

The foundation tent was very well attended from Thursday to Sunday.

“You just notice that people are more reserved.

You have to accept that.” Thanks to the nice weather, the beer garden was always well filled.

"You noticed that at the senior afternoon: Many sit in the garden," said Richter.

showman

"No one really needs to whine this year," said showman spokeswoman Gabi Rilke.

“We were lucky with the weather, no storms and just one rainy day.

On the whole we can be satisfied with that.”

She noticed that in the first few days it was less busy in the afternoons and "it all shifted into the evening".

On the second weekend there was also something going on in the afternoon.

Their main problem: untrained staff.

This makes assembly and disassembly difficult.

Rilke has already set her sights on Moosburg, where the folk festival begins on Friday.

The Erdinger Herbstfest is simply cult.

"Here young people already throw themselves in dirndls and lederhosen."

BRK

"After a turbulent start, the folk festival was rather quiet for the BRK medical station," reports BRK spokeswoman Danuta Pfanzelt.

A total of 55 citizens were treated for various injuries - from wasp stings to falls.

The BRK brought 18 patients to the clinic for further treatment.

In addition, around 230 blister plasters were applied.

240 volunteers worked for the BRK in the first-aid post and selling tickets.

police

From the point of view of the police, too, "the autumn festival was largely calm and peaceful," said Harald Pataschitsch, head of the Wiesn guard.

Only on the second Friday and Saturday evening were there more police operations.

In total, Pataschitsch reported five physical injuries, three dangerous physical injuries, three resistances to law enforcement officers and physical attacks on police officers, as well as ten violations of youth protection regulations.

"Compared to the autumn festivals of previous years, significantly fewer crimes were committed," he emphasizes.

It was also positive that fewer alcohol-related traffic violations had to be punished.

An exhibitionist who manipulated his naked member in front of a ride around 9 p.m. caused a stir on the last Sunday of the Autumn Festival.

The 40-year-old was temporarily arrested, reported the Kripo Erding.

A similar incident occurred in the sanitary facilities shortly before 9 p.m.

The arrested person was probably also involved there.

For clarification, the Kripo asks witnesses to contact Tel. (0 81 22) 96 80.
