The debate over the salary of the teaching staff is over and now a new fight in the education system - who will pay for the price increases of Nitzanim daycare centers:
the heads of the authorities are threatening today (Tuesday) that if the Treasury does not put its hand in its pocket, they will be forced to collect the money from the parents.
Because of the rising prices in the economy, the operating price of the after-school programs has increased.
The heads of the authorities claim that the increase in food prices and after-school classes will lead to an increase in the price of about NIS 30 million.
Now dozens of heads of authorities together with the local government are demanding that the treasury put its hand in its pocket so that the burden does not fall on the municipalities (local authorities).
According to them, there is a need to compensate (indemnify) the local and regional authorities for the expenses, so that they can continue to operate the subsidized Nitzanim daycare centers.

According to the heads of the authorities, in the absence of budgeting for the aforementioned increases, they will be forced to reduce the level of service in the after-school programs, or alternatively, charge the parents the difference, in order to be able to operate them.
In a letter signed by, among others, Haim Bibbs, the mayor of Maccabim Reat and the chairman of the local government, along with the mayor of Tel Aviv, Ron Huldai, and the mayor of Be'er Sheva, Rubik Danilovich, and addressed to Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Education Minister Shasha Biton, it is written: It will be from the pockets of the local authorities or, alternatively, to drag them to a significant reduction in the level of service in the other components of the model in the authorities that will not be able to add their own money to fill the gap."

The heads of the authorities also accused the ministers: "Your conduct in this matter and your blatant disregard for the reality of the facts and the cry of the local government regarding its collapse under the burden of the price increase in general and the addition of burdens due to the power of this call in addition, brought us to a decision of no more."
It should be noted that the increase in price will mainly affect small authorities because they will have more difficulty spending funds to reduce the resulting budget gap.
The Ministry of Finance did not respond.
