The Speaker of the Russian State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, announced his country's support for an increase in the share of national currencies in financial settlements between BRICS countries.
Sputnik news agency quoted Volodin as saying during his speech at the eighth parliamentary forum of the BRICS group: “The whole world is tired of Washington’s double standards and its imposition of unequal conditions on its countries in all areas of cooperation, and we support increasing the share of national currencies in financial settlements between our countries and the global trade system needs to Get rid of the dollar.
He explained that "this will not only contribute to the democratization of the international trading system and increase the role of developing countries, but will also contribute to its sustainability."
It is noteworthy that the 8th Parliamentary Forum of BRICS countries is being held today, where China is chairing the forum for this year, with the participation of the Russian Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko, in addition to a number of parliamentarians.
