The S-Bahn Munich causes divided minds with a post on the net.
While some are amused by the joke, others can't stop ranting.
Munich – “One of Munich's most beautiful landmarks.
And a Ferris wheel”: With these words, the S-Bahn Munich titled its latest post on Facebook.
You can see a photo of an S-Bahn that has apparently just pulled onto a platform at the Ostbahnhof.
Behind the Umadum, the Munich Ferris wheel.
"What are your top sights in Munich (apart from the S-Bahn)?" It continues.
The obvious joke has met with mixed reactions online.
S-Bahn Munich a landmark?
Users make fun of the post: "Munich's eyesore"
While some diligently comment on which sights they find the most beautiful in Munich (English Garden, Olympic Park, Marienplatz or the Wiesn), others take the opportunity to really let off steam.
"With the delays, cancellations, annoyed conductors... the S-Bahn is definitely Munich's eyesore," someone is certain.
Another user sees it similarly, he describes the Ostbahnhof including the S-Bahn as a "monument of shame".
Many people would have "sunkered away for days of their lives waiting" here.
"Shouldn't a landmark always be in the same place?" one wants to know.
"I know that with the S-Bahn you stand in one spot very often and for a long time, but that doesn't make it a landmark.
Maximum as a miracle and that's definitely it if you're only 20 minutes late." Another user jokingly asks whether the S-Bahn arrived in time for the photo or whether the photographer had to wait.
Facebook users complain about "unreliable S-Bahn"
"Neither the ugly Ostbahnhof nor the Werksviertel nor the overpriced Ferris wheel are symbols of Munich," someone clarifies.
All the really beautiful places can also be reached without the "unreliable S-Bahn", by bus, subway or tram.
Not everyone is dissatisfied with the S-Bahn.
"The Munich S-Bahn doesn't disappoint me when it comes to punctuality," someone commented.
He will drive the S-Bahn again for the next three days and then give a positive rating.
Even if the joke didn't go down well with everyone, the Facebook post at least stimulated discussions about the Ostbahnhof and Munich's sights.
The plans for a Ring-S-Bahn in Munich are now to be revived, and a citizen from Au suggested Tassiloplatz as a potential stop for it.
