The preparatory work for the new construction of the St. Peter day care center in Wörth has started.

The old building is history, a provisional already occupied.

The move-in is planned for 2024.

Wörth

– The old St. Peter kindergarten in Wörth is history.

It was demolished to make room for the new building.

The Catholic facility has already moved into a container facility that has been set up in a church-owned field near the construction site.

Wistful farewell to the old kindergarten and anticipation of the new building go hand in hand.

"It was important to us that we accompany the children," said the head of the kindergarten, Susanne Popp, during the on-site visit to this process.

A few girls and boys also took part in the visit.

Church caretaker Stephan Schletter, as representative of the client, informed about the overall measure and the timetable.

The children would be cared for in the rented container facility for about two years.

The containers are equipped with a ventilation system and a provisional garden area including play equipment.

This temporary solution alone costs around one million.

There were many regulations and requirements to be observed here, said Schletter.

The move to this temporary accommodation took place at the end of July and was a "strength" that was mastered very well, praised Deputy Mayor Ulla Dieckmann.

The new building, planned by the architectural office LMJD, is estimated at over nine million euros, with the municipality bearing the lion's share with at least six million euros.

The question of funding is still being clarified.

The provisional container system costs around one million euros as an interim solution.

The move has already taken place.

As reported, the community finances two groups completely, since the previously four-group facility will be increased to six groups due to the great need.

After all, it should be "a building for the future," said Dieckmann.

For the rest of the financing, the costs are divided into two-thirds for the community and one-third for the church.

"It is a public building that is also financed by church taxes," explained Schletter.

The two-storey building will be built in wood, partly with local wood, and will have high ecological standards.

"The archdiocese's sustainability guidelines are taken into account." They are "the best thing there is in Germany," emphasized Schletter, who is an energy consultant.

Dieckmann referred to accessibility, "which is very important to us".

After planning for the new building had already started in 2008, we are now very happy to be in the implementation phase.

The move into the new building is planned for the first half of 2024.

The trades "running" up to the shell, said Schletter.

However, the award of the contract for the further expansion work is challenging.

Due to delivery difficulties and price increases, it is difficult for companies to make solid calculations.

That's why only a few offers were made here, explained the church custodian, who is intensively taking care of the construction work.

"We are very happy to have Mr. Schletter at our side," emphasized Dieckmann.

Schletter returned the compliment: "We as a church are very grateful to have a constructive partner in the community."
