The Gröbenzell Almfrieden Trachtenverein can look back on a long history.
Founded in 1920, the 100th birthday would actually have been celebrated two years ago.
But because of Corona, that wasn't possible.
The Trachtlers are all the happier now that the big anniversary party is finally just around the corner.
Gröbenzell – Ralf Hollenbach can still remember very well what it was like for him when he put on his traditional costume again after almost a year on Corpus Christi.
“An indescribable feeling, just beautiful.
I suddenly saw myself with different eyes and felt how much I missed it,” says Almfrieden Gröbenzell, the first board member of the Trachtenverein.
The effects of the corona pandemic paralyzed club life and so the around 130 members have long marked September 11, 2022 in bold in their calendars: Next Sunday (from 8 a.m.) they will finally celebrate the 100th birthday of their club, which they already wanted to commit in May 2020.
parade
Around 600 guests are expected, the highlights are the parade through Gröbenzell (from 11.45 a.m.) and the festival afternoon in the Wildmooshalle (from 1.30 p.m.).
"Everyone will be on their feet, we need every helping hand," says Hollenbach.
The 60-year-old - he has been a member since 1990 and the first board member since 2012 - hopes that the anniversary will also give the club a boost: "Many people will realize what a great sense of togetherness there is in our traditional costume club." That's what he has impressed when his now wife Martina once dragged him to a meeting: "It really is like a family."

This also applies to large events in the Huosigau.
This is an association of traditional costume associations and customs-oriented regional associations and one of 22 regional associations that are combined in the Bavarian Traditional Costume Association.
There was no loss of membership due to Corona, the adults all stayed with us, and there were four cancellations among children and young people (up to 17 years of age).
How does a traditional costume association get the problem with the lack of offspring under control?
"Ten years ago we put the topic in younger hands - now there are three youth leaders aged 25 to 30 who have a completely different connection to the children," says Hollenbach, whose daughters Daniela and Andrea also work in the association.

Vorplattler Peter Burkhart junior is also following in the footsteps of his father Peter and his late grandfather Peter, who was also Gauvorplattler and is an honorary Vorplattler of the association.
Uncle Manfred Burkhart is the club musician.
The foundation
On March 7, 1920, Ludwig Riegel founded what was then the Gröbenzell Mountain Costume Association.
Josef Steber (until 1933) was elected the very first board member, while Max Straßer (1987 to 2012) enjoyed the longest term at the head of the association.
"Like many other clubs, we have experienced ups and downs, but we are confident about the future," says Ralf Hollenbach.
The chronicle of the association says: “When the active association work was tackled again after the Second World War, it was by no means easier than when it was founded.
But the club had idealists who are necessary to survive even in difficult times.
The aim of the association remains to pass on local customs and our culture to the next generation and to preserve it for the good of the homeland, emphasizes Hollenbach.
"We are experiencing a newly sparked awareness in society for wearing a traditional costume far away from the Oktoberfest outfits that used to be typical."
