Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stephane Dujarric, stressed the importance of Russian food and fertilizer access to global markets.
Russia Today channel quoted Dujarric as saying today, in a statement, commenting on Russian President Vladimir Putin's speech at the Eastern Economic Forum, that discussions between Russia and the United Nations are continuing on a constructive and professional level, and today a meeting was held in Geneva between Russia and the United Nations under the leadership of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Organization for Trade and Development Rebecca Greenspan in order to ensure the full activation of the agreement reached in Istanbul and the removal of obstacles to trade in foodstuffs and fertilizers from Russia, stressing that discussions with the Russian delegation were positive.
Dujarric added: “We have worked closely with Russia and our partners the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and others to facilitate the access of Russian grain and fertilizer to global markets.
