Former United States President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, arrived tonight (Wednesday, Israel time) at the White House for the first time after leaving it in 2017 at the end of his term.
The two participated in the unveiling ceremony of the portraits of the former president and his wife, alongside the other American presidents and their spouses.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Democratic Party and friends of the couple, and it was held in the same room where in 2017, Obama awarded his then vice-president, Joe Biden, the Presidential Certificate of Freedom.
Although there is no fixed time for the unveiling of the portraits, the ceremony was not held during the tenure of the previous president, Donald Trump.

The friendship between Biden and Obama was forged during the term of the latter.
However, although the two show close ties from the outside, sources close to the two said that they do not keep in regular contact.
According to the sources, there is a degree of competitiveness between the two, and Biden is trying to differentiate the administration under his leadership from that of Obama.
