A level 3 fire broke out in Kwai Chung. At about 1:30 in the morning today (8th), it was reported that a car park near Container Terminal No. 1 and a warehouse converted from containers suddenly caught fire. When firefighters arrived, they found flames rising into the sky.

At about 1:30 in the morning today (8th), it was reported that a car park near Container Terminal No. 1 and a warehouse converted from containers suddenly caught fire.

When the firefighters arrived at the scene, they found that the flames were soaring into the sky and the smoke was dense. The on-site supervisor decided to raise the fire alarm to level three to increase manpower resources to assist in the firefighting.

On-site news said that an employee suffered accidental burns, but fortunately, the injury was not serious.

Fire fighters dispatched two hosepipes and two smoke-cap teams to rescue, and ambulances were also on guard at the scene.


The Fire Services Department said that a fire broke out at Kwai Chung No. 1 Container Terminal today (8th) at 1:31 a.m. and was upgraded to level 3 at 1:41 a.m.

The fire was surrounded at 4.05am and brought under control at 4.30am.

Firefighters are using 4 hoses and 4 teams of smoke hats to fight.

The two evacuated to safety on their own, and one suffered minor hand injuries.

The prescription continued that if the public is affected by the smoke and odor wafting in the wind, they can close the doors and windows and keep calm.


Lu Jiexiong, Senior Fire Division Chief of the Fire Services Department, pointed out that the Fire Services Department received multiple fire reports and firefighters arrived at the scene within 5 minutes. The fire area was about 20 meters by 30 meters, involving 6 containers and 2 temporary buildings. Due to the large area , In addition to the fierce and rapid spread of the fire, firefighters raised the fire alarm to level three 10 minutes after they arrived at the scene.

The Fire Services Department dispatched a total of 37 fire and ambulance vehicles and 143 fire and ambulance personnel to the scene, and mobilized 4 teams of hoods and 4 hoses to fight the incident.

During the fire, a woman escaped with minor burns to her hands.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

In addition, during the fire rescue, the Fire Services Department dispatched drones to assist.
