If two months ago it was Ayla Hasson who for the first time managed to score the historic lead wall of Keshet 12 on Saturday night, this week it was another star of Network 13 - Sharon Gal - who provided Arutz Sheva the failures quite a few reasons for optimism.

At the beginning of the week, Gal defeated the mythical competitor Rafi Rashef, and by a margin.

On Monday Gal stood at 5.5% viewership (in Jewish households) versus 4.3% for Reshef, and on Tuesday (yesterday) widened the gap with 6% viewership versus 4.4%.

In thousands of viewers, by the way, this is an even bigger gap.

The victories, it turns out, are not a miracle or a deviation from the standard that results only from the events of the hour (holidays and vacations, with a large public who is abroad) and a broadcast schedule that includes the Big Brother, which provides every screen with a network of inspiration, from noon with the daily report to prime time with the Brother himself.

In thousands of viewers, the balance is even tighter - 101 thousand viewers for the show versus 97 thousand viewers for the wave.

Five with Sharon Gal was broadcast for the first time in the daily slot at 17:00 starting in August 2020. The balance of power in the month of launch indicated a clear lead of Reshef - who until then had maintained complete dominance in the strip for years - with an average rating of 8.3% and 207 thousand viewers.

Gal then stood at 4.7% and 120 thousand viewers.

Today, exactly two years later, at least in the first week of September, the balance of power is almost equal: from the beginning of September, Reshef achieves an average of 5.4% against Gal's 4.9%.

In thousands of viewers, the balance is even tighter - 101 thousand viewers for the show versus 97 thousand viewers for the wave.

Even in terms of share it is almost equality.

Even from a higher perspective, the picture reveals a clear gap: in 2021 the average viewership was 4.2% per wave versus 8.8%, more than twice, while in 2 Mobil Reshef was 7.5% versus 4.6% per wave.

From a gap of 4.6 points to a gap of 2.9.

When you look at the number of viewers, you get a much clearer picture.

In 2021 Rafi Reshef was watched by an average of 230 thousand viewers and from the beginning of 2022 - 175 thousand.

And despite all of this, the popular assessment is that there is no doubt that Gal's rise is due to the observation of Netanyahu's supporters

First, it is interesting to check which audiences abandoned Rafi.

The test shows that Reshef decreased in all audiences except the segment of adults aged 75+.

This is a significant figure since advertisers are looking at the purchasing power of the viewers, and the data simultaneously indicates a sharp drop in the 4-44 age group and also a decrease in the 55-74 age group who watch the program.

However, when you see these audiences feeding the bulk of Gal's rise, you discover a not unexpected answer: Gal consistently rises at the expense of Reshef among what is defined as "non-secular".

There are a few more variables that are worth knowing when trying to understand the change.

First - the timing.

The last year has suffered a significant decrease in news viewership, this after two years of a significant increase in the shadow of the Corona virus.

In addition, the congestion in current affairs broadcasts, together with the possibility of going abroad for the first time in a massive way against the backdrop of a multi-year decrease in the viewing volume of the commercial broadcast channels - can also provide some of the answers. But not all.

And despite all of this, it is widely believed that there is no doubt that Gal's rise is due to the observation of Netanyahu's supporters.

The most striking evidence for this is that Amnon Levy, who is broadcast after him, does not really enjoy the bounce (as Oded Ben Ami enjoys the flow of viewers of Rashef), but usually brings less than a wave because there is a turnover of audience. Another evidence is also related to the identity of the presenter. When Or Heller replaces Sharon Gal - The ratings are falling. The devout "bibist" viewers provide about 2-3% more that make the "extra" possible for Gal (and for that matter also for Hasson).

Needless to say that Channel 14, for example, does not enjoy the same "base", and therefore has difficulty reaching similar results.

And maybe, all the answers are correct.
