The prosecution requested a one-year suspended sentence and a fine of 10,000 euros against a senior Parisian police official for

"concealment of abuse of social good"

and

"violation of professional secrecy"

, Wednesday September 7 before the criminal court from Paris.

Former comptroller general, Jean-Yves Adam, 70, is being prosecuted for having financed several trips by drawing on funds from a company originally deposited by the sponsors of motor races in which he participated as a driver.

He is also suspected of having carried out information searches for business leaders, between 2011 and 2014, in a police file, the System for processing recorded offenses (STIC).

The former official finally appeared for having taken favorable decisions for the benefit of many traders in the Parisian market in exchange for gifts: invitation to private parties, concerts, cases of champagne...

"The sense of relationship"

Jean-Yves Adam had

"a sense of interpersonal skills, a taste for beautiful things that he did not hesitate to accept"

, but also

"the easy phone call or Bristol board to fix the situation of his acquaintances"

, described at the hearing the representative of the prosecution, Grégory Weill.

The magistrate, however, asked the court to drop the prosecution for "influence peddling" (favorable decisions in exchange for gifts)

"to the strict benefit of the doubt"

.

Calm and affable, Jean-Yves Adam defended himself at the helm of any counterpart, defining himself as a simple

“transmission belt”

of requests.

His lawyer pleaded for his release from all charges.

In its submissions, the prosecution also demanded a three-month suspended prison sentence against the head of the sponsor company and a one-month suspended prison sentence against the three entrepreneurs who had benefited from the information provided by the police officer.

Former general intelligence, Jean-Yves Adam directed between 2005 and 2013, an important service within the Directorate of local security of the Paris conurbation (DSPAP) of the Prefecture of police (PP).

He was initially indicted in 2014 in Paris, in particular for

"corruption"

and

"abuse of corporate assets"

.

Judgment will be delivered on October 25.
