The spokesperson for Russian diplomacy Maria Zakharova on Wednesday (September 7th) mocked the arrival of Liz Truss as Prime Minister in the United Kingdom, seeing it as the “
crisis of British democracy
”.

After a campaign on the promise of tax cuts, Liz Truss, the third British female head of government, after Margaret Thatcher (1979-1990) and Theresa May (2016-2019), a follower of a belligerent tone at the regard to Russia, was elected by 57% of the approximately 142,000 voting members of the conservative party.
She took office on Tuesday in the midst of an economic emergency, due to the fall in purchasing power caused by rising energy bills.
