A group of civil society activities concerned with cultural and social affairs and human heritage launched today the Homs Forum (EMISA) at the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Armenian Quarter, in the presence of a number of people interested in cultural and social affairs and religious figures.
The forum, consisting of “The Brotherhood of Our Seniors Akbarna, the Association of Al-Adiyat, the Heritage Foundation, the Association of Friends of Expatriates, Al-Wadi International Private University and the Mada Cultural Team” united its efforts to serve the cultural issue in Homs and work to consolidate its heritage and strengthen social ties between its people.
In a statement to SANA's reporter, Dr. Ramez Bitar, one of the forum's founders, indicated that (EMISA) is a meeting of love and solidarity between the different spectrums of society, through which work will be done on a positive impact in several cultural, human and social aspects, in partnership with the participating parties, and everyone will work based on their love for Syria and their keenness to preserve the its culture and heritage.
In turn, the Metropolitan of Homs, Hama, al-Nabk and its dependencies for the Melkite Roman Catholic Archbishop Youhanna Abdo Arbash said that the word “meeting” is very important as it is an opportunity to do good for every human being on the cultural, intellectual and social levels, pointing out that the city of Homs deserves attention due to its civilized, cultural, heritage and artistic components.
The head of the Al-Adiyat Association in Homs, Dr. Nazih Badour, pointed out that the work of attracting those interested in culture and heritage in one crucible is difficult and requires great efforts, stressing that everyone will work with love to reach the best results.
The director of the Mada Cultural Project in Homs, Ramiz Al-Hussein, indicated that the civil society wanted to share with each other and show the world that Syria is the land of love and cooperation through a forum bearing the name of the city of Homs and seeking to highlight the most beautiful in it at all levels.
Vice-President of the Association of Friends of Expatriates in Homs, Maya Shabou', pointed out that the expatriates will be informed of the various activities organized by the forum, disseminate its news, and invite them to participate in the events if possible.
It is noteworthy that the forum will begin next week to organize a variety of activities, including a march that will go to the various neighborhoods of Homs to learn about its architectural heritage and important landmarks.
