The Bundestag has passed a new Infection Protection Act.
What does that mean for Bavaria?
Söder has already announced the first easing.
Munich -
New Corona rules for autumn are coming.
On Thursday (September 8th), the Bundestag passed a new infection protection law from the traffic light coalition.
It enables stricter specifications for masks and tests again.
What does this mean for the Free State?
Nothing for the time being, the nationwide rules should not come into force until October 1st.
Bavaria therefore intends to extend its current corona rules by two weeks until September 23rd.
Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) said: "Since the federal government did not complete the new Infection Protection Act in time, another transitional regulation must first be created by September 23 and then - after the changes to the Infection Protection Act come into force - by September 30, 2022. New corona rules in Bavaria: Söder advocates relaxation of isolation
He emphasized: "Bayern is continuing on its consistent course." However, Bavaria's motto is: "As much as necessary - and as little as possible." They do not want any arbitrary preliminary decisions.
Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) made that clear again on “Maischberger” on ARD.
He clearly rejects stricter requirements, according to Söder, rules like those at Delta would be "completely inappropriate".
With Omikron you are in a different phase of the pandemic.
"This whole discussion about blocking, blocking, banning - it's really over now."

Söder even goes so far as to speak out directly for further easing.
He sees a need for action on the isolation rules.
"Are the strict quarantine rules that we have now still appropriate?" According to him, isolation should be reduced in the event of a corona infection.
In addition, it should be based on whether the person concerned has symptoms or not.
"There could be other options, for example with a mask."
Corona rules currently in force in Bavaria:
Obligation to wear at least one medical mask in public transport
Obligation to wear a mask in vulnerable facilities (doctor's surgeries, nursing homes, etc.)
Test obligation: PCR test obligation or self-test carried out on site when visiting hospitals and care facilities
Stricter mask rules come with a new law: Söder considers them "completely absurd"
The new nationwide rules of the Infection Protection Act include changes to the mask regulations.
An FFP2 mask requirement is to come in hospitals, care facilities and medical practices.
Even on long-distance buses and trains, a medical mask is no longer sufficient.
However, masks are no longer compulsory on airplanes.
Söder described this decision on ARD as “relatively absurd.” The Prime Minister said that if masks were to be worn on planes, “please also on the trains”.
