The federal government has promised rapid state aid to the gas supplier VNG, which has gotten into trouble.
"VNG officially said today that they need government support, and we will get it done," said Economics Minister Robert Habeck on Friday.
"We are on a very, very good path and that will be clarified in a timely manner."
Brussels - The gas supplier VNG - number 3 on the German market - got into financial difficulties because of the energy crisis and had therefore applied for help from the state.
The background is the lack of Russian gas supplies, which now have to be replaced at great expense from other sources.
