First report from Friday, September 9th:

Moscow/Kiev - For Russia, the Ukraine war is currently not going according to plan.

Above all, the severe losses that the aggressor has suffered since the invasion began on February 24 are making things difficult for the country.

How high the Russian losses are is difficult to quantify.

The Kremlin has remained adamantly silent on this issue for some time.

At the beginning of the war it was different.

The Ministry of Defense said in an official statement at the end of March that 1,351 soldiers had been killed.

In April, Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov even admitted to British TV channel

Sky News

that Russia had "significant losses": "This is a huge tragedy for us."

During his speech on Wednesday (September 7) in Vladivostok, President Vladimir Putin boasted about it.

When asked how much Russia has gained and how much it has lost with the "special military operation" in Ukraine, Putin said succinctly: "We have lost nothing, we will lose nothing."
