Dozens of civilians were killed after an attack on a town in northern Mali by jihadists affiliated with the Islamic State organization and fighting with other armed groups in the region, including rival jihadists, said this Friday, September 9, a local elected official and an armed group leader.
Talataye, about 150 km from Gao, has been the scene of regular fighting since the start of the Malian conflict in 2012, given its location at the confluence of the areas of influence of different armed groups.
"
What really worries us is the humanitarian situation, the populations are left to their own
devices," said the local elected official on condition of anonymity.
