Around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, a police officer used his weapon “

once

” against a “

Peugeot 208 vehicle

”.

Its driver, a man born in 1996, was the subject of an interception within the framework of an investigation for "

violation of the legislation on narcotics

" on a ramp of the Rennes ring road at the intersection of the road of Lorient .

A 22-year-old woman, "

unknown to the judicial services

" and domiciled in Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray was also on board.

The man, known to the police, had been injured in the arm by a bullet which then hit "

the passenger by the left flank

".

She died on the spot at 2:15 a.m. despite the intervention of the emergency services.

The prosecutor indicated that the mother of the deceased young woman had filed a complaint for manslaughter against the driver of the vehicle.

According to the prosecution, the driver had been summoned by a police officer to get out of the vehicle and stop, after which "

he refused to comply and started again quickly

", facing two other police vehicles.

The driver of one of the two vehicles, saying he felt his life was in danger, had pulled towards the car from the driver's side after getting out of the vehicle which had just hit his leg.

The police officer who fired the shot was immediately heard as a witness by the IGPN (he may be heard again if necessary in a different legal framework)

”, indicated the prosecution.

", added Philippe Astruc.

A preliminary investigation was opened on July 21 "

after the discovery by customs of 2,160 kilograms of cocaine abandoned in a vehicle in Vignoc

", north of Rennes.

The investigations carried out made it possible to establish that these facts were part of drug trafficking between Saint Étienne du Rouvray (near Rouen) and Brittany (in particular Finistère) with more than fifteen journeys

”, specified the prosecutor.

The presumed recipient of narcotics, born in 1989, little known to the judicial institution, was arrested on September 7, 2022 at his home in Finistère in Saint Jean de Trolimon

”, also indicated the magistrate.

Referred to the Rennes prosecutor's office, the man was indicted for "
